I recently left my job as an Industrial Engineer in the aerospace industry in order to pursue my dream of someday owning a bakery. My decision may seem ignorant and naive to many, I suppose myself included, but I'm going to give it a shot and if I fail, well, I suppose it'll make for an interesting story. In the meantime, I plan to have a blast and explore the things I love ... including good food and *good* music.

Three Generations, Dancin' in the Kitchen:
my sister, mother, and grandmother |
The Treats: My mom always told me kitchens were better for dancing than cooking. I agree. But the only thing better than cutting the rug in the kitchen is having delicious food to eat when you're too tired to rock out any longer. I've been baking for some time now, only a short stint of that for pay, so the recipes included here are easy to make and (too) easy to eat. There's something about spending an hour in the kitchen and then finding yourself surrounded by cupcakes or cookies or cinnamon rolls that's very satisfying (just don't look at the pile of dishes in the sink).

One of my favorite people in this world,
My "G-Ma" and Me in 2002 |
The Beats: I need to warn you. Just because I'm passionate about music doesn't necessarily imply I only listen to "quality" music. I listen to just about everything (except modern country, I suppose to spurn my Wyoming roots): 80's pop, emo punk rock, classical, bluegrass, rock, offensive rap, and in a moment of spontaneity last week I downloaded a Justin Bieber song. I wouldn't call it Bieber Fever, maybe just a case of 24hr Bieber Flu. In any case, I love just about all music and you're likely to see that here. I apologize for anything you may find offensive, annoying, or just plain painful to the ear.
So I introduce to you Treats & Beats - tie on an apron, grab a few props, and prepare to get your bake on.
